My name is Susan too & I was diagnosed with a disc herniation at C6-7 in September. I completely understand the pain as I am unable to do my normal activities as a result of it. I also have numbness & tingling & my left index finger is pretty much numb. It feels like a novacaine injection that's starting to wear off. I haven't had an epidural, but have seen an orthopaedic doctor. I had a cortisone injection that worked great for a few weeks. When I went back for another it hardly made any difference. I started PT also, but it's been difficult to do the stretches & exercises because of the pain. Out of desperation & depression I just started accupunture. Although I haven't noticed a tremendous difference in the pain yet, my energy level has come back & I'm feeling better overall. Sleeping is near impossible. Someone else told me to get a special neck pillow to keep my spine aligned properly while I sleep, but I'm still looking for that.
