I also believe that this has to do with the immune system..I had Guillain Barre' in 1984 which caused my immune system to attack itself..I spent time on a ventilator as I was totally paralyzed to my forehead. The disease attacked the myelin sheath on my nerves so I have numb feet, legs and hands, plus caused me to tire very easily. At te time this happened, I was 54..in perfect health, ran, played sports and never sick. After I had this, I never got back to normal but still rarely got sick, had about 1 cold every 3 or 4 years. In Sept of 1997..I woke up and could not move..had to be gotten out of bed, could not comb my hair, dress myself..well most of you know the scene. This is my second bout with an autoimmune disease and even though I eat a very healthy diet, have exercised as much as possible and so on, I don't see any end to this. My immune system is totally out of whack and there is no way to completely repair a damaged immune system. But..education is the key to understanding it and I have done piles of research..some things do help so I keep hoping for the best. Right now I am on 2 1/2 with a lot of pain and stiffness..on 5, I would feel good! Hugs to all and hang in there.. Paula
