Dear Marguerite, I too have polymyalgia rheumatica and have had it for about 3 years now. What I've found is that sleeping on a heating pad where the pain is the worst helps. Also, taking hot showers in the morning, if possible. For some reason, heat helps to alleviate some of the pain, at least that's what I've found. Hope this helps some.
