I was diagnosed with FMS over five years ago after being frightened, humiliated, and misdiagnosed for years. I to was told it was all in my head, and I needed to deal with my past. Well I did deal with my past AND it helped some, however, THE PAIN PERSISTED!!! I did not get the help I needed until I became totally disabled and debilitated with UNBEARABLE pain. I was unable to care for myself for almost a year. I had to have a home health nurse 4 hours a day. I had a hospital bed, wheel chair, other help aids, the whole nine yards to deal with the severe case of fibromyalgia. My pain had gotten extemely severe and I was not being treated correctly because I was unable to get a FMS friendly doctor to evaluate me correctly. MY BIGGEST mistake was that I listened to the malarky and was not aggressive enough in the beginning and hurt to bad near the end of my "walking days" to research FMS and find a FMS specialist. THAT I feel is the key and beginning to good care of fibromyalgia. Please, keep searching until you find a doctor that knows how to evaluate and treat fibromyalgia correctly. A health care professional that knows it is NOT all in your mind. You have good doctors in NC. There is a good doctor in Statesville and in Charlotte. There is a fantastic doctor or two in Fayetteville that is very compassionate and very up-to-date on treatment of fibromyalgia. From there you can get on the right tract. Please email me and I can give you more info. Just remember, It is not all in your head, something is wrong in our bodies to make us hurt the way we do and have all the other symptoms. I am persuaded that just like they found relief for other diseases they will find out what's really going on and the whole world will come to know that the pain we feel is real, and it can be treated with medical help!!
