Hi This problem is quite common. Standard treatment consists of rest and oral ant-inflammatory medication such as naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), Vioxx or Celebrex. Sometimes injections of a cortticosteroid drug directly injected into the bursa can be helpful. The inflammation and pain usually pass with time but can recur.
