I too had bursitis in my hip for 2 years. Injections helped for about 6 weeks. I spent most of the night walking as lying down was too painful. Fortunately, my orthopedic surgeon, who was also a friend, suggested surgery to remove the bursa sac. This is a very unusual procedure, he was about to retire and had only done 2 other procedures in his career. He said people who were on their knees a lot often had this, nuns, gardeners etc. That was 14 years ago and have had no problems since. I wish I had not waited so long, but, I did not relish surgery.
