My brother was diagnosed with spina bifida occulta when he was about 21yr. At the time he had quite a bit of backache hence the reason for his x-ray. It's not given him any trouble apat from backache every so often. We did have a relation with true spina bifida but were told it wasn't connected. Occulta just means 'hidden'
