Re: chronic cystitis. I too had this for years and consulted a urologist. Each time I had an occurrence I had to see the doctor for medication. He advised that I: take showers instead of baths; wear cotton underwear; don't eat/drink anything acidic (orange, pineapple, grapefruit, etc.) and drink LOTS of water each day. This helped to slow down the occurrences of cystitis and I can now say that I rarely have an occurrence. The urologist can treat you by surgically unblocking the urethra tube for the urine to drain freely or even be permanently stitch the urethra open. But I did not have to have the stitching done.
