Those who posted that this is an tonsil infection problem are correct, I did have those when younger, not a lot of it but ocassionaly. I no longer have it, seems to have healed itself. No doubt they are caused by an infection, the doctor and dentist who said they didn't know what it was need to study up as these are very common conditions. If not an operation, perhaps anti-biotics may clear it up.
