Hi Donna, I know what you are going through as I too have FMS and many illnesses that go along with it. For the depression you need to be on meds as it is clinical depression which is a no fault brain disorder which is cataloged as an illness. If you are being treated by a physician for FMS then he or she must know that it causes the chemical imbalance. I am on Serzone and can not tell you how much it has improved my life. I also take a supplement recommended by a specialist called Fibroleve from GNC under the label PharmAssure. We need 1200mg. of malic acid and 400mg. of magnesium daily, you will need to take 4 a day. It has helped me tremendously with the fatigue part of the illness. A Chiropractor or massage therapist who practices in this field can relieve the pain by working the trigger points. What happens with Fibro is that toxins build up in these nodules which in turn causes unbearable pain. I will not kid you, when you first start it hurts really bad but........the effort is worth all that you face at that time. It has left me with pain that is bearable and nothing like I had before. It is also very important that you get enough sleep as the pain and problems caused by FMS will escalate. It is very common among us not to be able to get a good REM sleep or to even get to sleep without medication. It is important that you do not buy over the counter medications for this sleep disorder as it depletes the already delpleted Serotonin levels in our brain.
