My nephwe whom I adopted has been diagnosed with adhd since he was three. He has been on Ritalin since then. He is now in the eighth grade and getting ready to enter high school. He gets counseling three times a week in school and once a week in a ouytside clinic. I am afraid for him when it comes to high school. He is trying very hard in the behavior management department. I have noticed that the ritilin is not as effective as it was two years ago. 20mg. slow release 1x daily, 10mg 2x daily and melaril 10mg 3x daily. my concern is him being able to control his anger in a setting where there is more stimuli and not always positive stimuli. Are there special schools where they can attend? We live in The Bronx NY, I would love to relocate to Marietta, Georgia but I am afraid of what kind of problems he will bring with him and how will I be able to handle them. He is a sweet and helpful child, only he fails to consider consequenses before certain actions.
