It's really imperative that you take your daugther to a pediatric orthopedist. Have her knees and her hips xrayed. There are many things that can be causing her pain. Some of them are self-healing, others are not. The reason you xray the hip as well as the knees is that some problems are hip related, but because the femoral nerve runs down the leg and branches out at the knee, you can get referred pain. This was the case with our son. He limped, had indiscriminant knee pain, had had no accidents or falls. His knee xrays were normal, but when his hips were xrayed they showed that he had Legg Perthes disease. LP is a rare children's disease that due to lack of blood flow, the ball of the hip begins to die. It eventually regrows, sometimes misshapen. I am not suggesting that your daughter has this disease, but it's important with some problems to get treatment right away. Pain is a good thing. It is our red flag that something is wrong. You need to know what it is that is causing her pain.
