My Father in Law at 80yrs young was troubled fiercely with this pain and went to his dr. who referred him onto a Pain clinic at the local hospital. There after x-rays and MRI it was discovered he had disc pressing directly on a nerve root to cause his severe pain down his leg and into his foot. Thus making walking and standing near to impossible for any amount of time. Due to some insurance protocol, he had to go through physical therapy before ins. would give consent to "much needed surgery" as the doctor stated. Lo and behold--the pain dr. gave him a injection in his spine to reduce pain-possibly, dr was not sure if it would help any, but it did some and the PHYSICAL THERAPY worked wonders. 3 weeks later the dr was amazed and my F-I-L is doing much better with minimal pain. Hope this helps.
