After taking 2 7-day packs of Prednisone and feeling better for a few days, I thought I was free of it. What happens when you take Prednisone is that when you stop taking it, it comes back. Finally, after taking all the pain pills I could stand, I agreed to take 2mg of Medrol a day. The doctor told me that it would take a month for this to kick in and start working, but the very firstday I took it, the pain became less and less. I don't understand why so many are on such a high dosage when this little 2...actually one half of 5..mgs. is working just as well as the high dosge in the medpaks. I am also taking Lasix and Potassiun to keep the swelling down. That helps a lot. Also learned something interesting....If you take Percocet and Prednisone at the same time, you are asking for psychotic reactions. I did at first, and I started crying all the time....then I discoverd what was causing it...Keep those two meds apart.
