My Husband has AS and was diagnosed 7 years ago, although suffering since he was a teenager and went along undiagnosed. This is a new experience for us, hearing from other people who suffer from AS. Most people that you talk to don't know anything about it, or understand the pain that is involved. I myself obviously cannot feel the pain that my husband feels but I see the effects. Sometimes it causes a strain between us. Lately he has been suffering from depression. We have just moved interstate and I thought that the depression might be from that but after reading one of the letters someone wrote in, maybe it is from the constant pain. He doesn't take any medication for his disease, he gave up on that about 4 years ago after suffering different ailments from the side effects. Occassionly he takes panadeine forte, although that is rare because of the side effects of that. Sometimes I think that he feels at a loss because it seems that nothing will help. Anyways it would be great to hear from some of you, to help us, give us some advice on ways to go from here and just encouragement. Look forward to hearing from you.
