Your doctor spoke rather hastily when he said that coumadin is rat poison. Rat poison consists of the blood thinner, coumadin (in a very large dose and also ground glass. The ground glass causes the animal to be cut internally, and the coumadin causes the animal to bleed to death. If you are on coumadin, you must have your blood checked at regular intervals (to be detemined by your doctor) to be certain that you are on the correct dose.
