Are you refering to the blood thinner Coumadin? It is used to keep the blood thin in cardiac patients. Thinner blood helps prevent strokes by preventing the blood from clotting. People on coumadin have to restrict their diet of leafy green vegetables which contain vitamin K, a factor that helps blood to clot and counter acts the thinning effect. Aspirin is a mild blood thinner and if taken with Coumadin will cause stomach bleeds. It takes a little more time and pressure to stop bleeding of small cuts when taking Coumadin. The level of coumadin has to be carefully monitered to prevent the blood from getting too thick and if it is too thin you may bleed too easily. The generic of Coumadin is Warfarin. Hope that helps.
