Dear tracy, I hope you got a reply to your question before now, but if not here goes.... Coxsackie is as contagious as the commom cold and fortunately about as serious as the cold. It can be contracted by adults, however, most adults do not get it. Those adults most suseptable would be under a great deal of stress, or with and otherwise compromised immune system.
